This April, one of our own, Harry Scruton, a 23-year-old Laminator, is trading GRP for running shoes as he takes on a charity run in support of Henshaw’s.
From Harry:
“As a laminator at MPM, I’m on my feet all day, making sure our products are top quality. While that keeps me active, running a marathon is a whole new level of challenge.
I’m running in support of Henshaw’s, a charity that’s very close to me. They support people living with sight loss and other disabilities, helping them lead fulfilling lives beyond what’s expected. Currently, they’re working on The Secret Garden Appeal, aiming to raise £500k to build new workshops and provide 200 additional creative sessions every week.
Taking part in physical challenges for charity is not the first time for me. Last year, some of our team from MPM and I took part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Now, I’m channelling that same energy into this solo marathon. I’m proud to be supporting such an important cause, and I’m grateful for all the support I’ve received so far. Harry’s set himself a huge challenge to raise awareness and funds for a cause that’s important to him and many others. And here at MPM, we’re backing him all the way.
When he’s not working hard in our production team, Harry’s been out on the roads, clocking up miles in wind, rain, and everything in between – all in preparation for race day. The charity run is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting individual causes across the MPM team. Every year, we encourage our people to get involved in community or charitable activities – whether it’s volunteering, fundraising, or putting themselves through a tough physical challenge for a good cause.
We are proud to support Harry every step of the way, in supporting him to set up the marathon, raising over £350 internally through various activities such as raffles, and we hope to continue spreading the word for his first marathon, running for charity.
