As many music lovers will have seen, the Arcadia Stage at Glastonbury 2024 saw a bold installation for the world renowned festival. Arcadia describes ‘The Dragonfly’ as a "giant biomechanical creature, which will awaken at the heart of an evolved geometric space, exploring ideas around renewal, our relationship with technology and how we adapt to a changing climate."
In partnership with MSP Technologies and NPD Design Consultancy, MPM worked closely with both teams to deliver patterns and moulds and complete kits of 17 parts to house an innovative liquid-cooled Battery Energy Storage System that powered the ‘Dragonfly’.
The units required parts to be perfectly assembled to build the Hithium Cabinet first time. Using a combination of precise CNC and hand-built patterns, hand-laid GRP processes and working to extremely tight deadlines from design to completion, the teams worked collaboratively to successfully deliver 6 complete cabinets in under 14 weeks.
Whilst not part of the ‘dragonfly’ itself, our panels enabled the safe enclosure of this cutting edge Battery Energy Storage System which powered the ‘Dragonfly’ for the week long festival.
We are proud to have played our part in the delivery of this innovative and exciting project, and are grateful to all involved in the successful partnership working approach to ensure the vision (and deadlines!) were achieved.
