Alan has safely arrived at MPM!

Eager anticipation
As many of you know, a few months ago, in line with our commitment to continuous improvment, we invested in our first CNC machine, which we have affectionately named 'Alan' (in reference to Alan Godden, our retired former pattern shop leader). We are delighted to share that Alan has safely arrived at MPM and the team are working hard to integrate our CNC machine into our operations and fine-tune our processes to maximise its potential.

Enhanced Value for Our Customers

Alan marks a significant enhancement to our pattern-making, machining and kitting capabilities, promising to elevate our precision and efficiency to new heights so what does this mean for our customers?

Increased Precision and Accuracy in Pattern Making:

  • Complex Designs: Alan's advanced technology allows for the creation of highly intricate and detailed patterns with exceptional precision, ensuring that the final GRP parts meet exact specifications.
  • Consistency: CNC machining provides consistent and repeatable accuracy, reducing the likelihood of errors in pattern making and ensuring uniformity.

Improved Efficiency and Speed in Machining:

  • Time Savings: Automates and streamlines the machining process, significantly reducing the time required to produce kits, which accelerates the overall manufacturing timeline.
  • Material Utilisation: Enhanced precision minimizes material waste during machining, leading to cost savings and more sustainable production practices further leaning into our sustainability strategy.

Enhanced Kitting and Assembly Preparation:

  • Precision Cuts: CNC technology ensures that each component is cut to exact dimensions, facilitating easier and more accurate assembly during the kitting stage.
  • Customised Solutions: The CNC enhances our production capacity of customized kits tailored to specific customer needs, reducing lead times and increasing speed to market.

Optimised Initial Stages of GRP Part Manufacturing:

  • Prototype Development: Rapid prototyping, enabling quicker iteration and refinement of designs.
  • Scalability: The ability to efficiently produce accurate patterns and components supports scalable production, whether for small-batch custom orders or large-scale manufacturing.

Sneak Peak

Whilst we're embedding the new machine into our systems and processes, we've got a sneak peak for you to see a tiny bit of Alan in action. In the meantime, if you've got any questions about how we can enhance what we deliver for you through the use of the new CNC machine and its capabilities, don't hesitate to get in touch with Tim King  tim@mpmgroup.co.uk
